The Death of Terry L. Shirts

The Death of Terry L. Shirts

Exactly a week ago on the 18th of March I was contacted by Ricardo Lopez a local Guaymas OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAjournalist. He called me and asked me if I had heard about the body that had been found in the estuary earlier that morning. I had not heard anything. Ricardo told me that the death had already been ruled a suicide. That ruling struck me as odd, how many Americans would smuggle a weapon into Mexico just so that they could kill themselves in an estuary in a small tourist town in Mexico. I  have my suspicions that Mr. Shirts may not have killed himself. Apparently I am not the only one who does not so easily 0199687226002believe the initial ruling. Three days ago I was contacted by Mr. Shirts wife Sherry. Sherry sent me these pictures of Terry so I would ask everyone in San Carlos if they could please contact me if they met Terry here in town. He was camping out by the estuary in a 24 foot camper and drove a white Ford F250 circa 1999-2001.

Did anyone run into Terry? He may have been out there for several months camping. If anyone spoke with him could you please contact me, vradice@gmail.com is the email. Tomorrow I have interviews with the Ministerio Publico and the OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAComandante. I think it important that we in San Carlos know if this was truly a suicide or could it have been a robbery gone bad?

Thanks for any info anyone might have on this.

  1. Ok thanks for that Gitta, I put the pictures in the body of the text so you can see them. Maybe it is your browser, what are you using as a web browser?

  2. I am using firefox and I am not seeing the slideshow either, just saying. Several months camping, hope they find some answers, good luck.

  3. Hi Pam, are you on your Mac? what operating system are you using just out of curiosity and do you have the latest version of Firefox?

It would seem that after speaking with the Comandante here just this morning that this appears to be a suicide as initially reported. You just have to be sure these days. I wanted to make sure that it was not a robbery that turned sour. So many killings in Sonora these days. Just the other day 7 Sinaloa Cartel members were gunned down north of here by the Naco border crossing with Arizona. With Chapo out of the picture it would seem the turf wars are going to heat up a bit now in Sonora.

  4. She took everything from him. Money, house. Even the kids. He worked all his like and she drove him crazy and ruined him. She’s a narcissist. That uses the dad’s kids to hurt them.

  5. I can agree to the above reply, as I’m not sure whether or not he committed suicide or this cartel killing could have happened, I witnessed him crying in my youth telling me how the last two kids he had were used against him for child support purposes. He followed that statement up with getting a vasectomy. His reasoning was that he was always out of town to work as a traveling lineman and she was supposedly on birth control, but in the few times he came home she was pregnant again. He did work his whole life and I may not have known him as a man myself, but he taught me things I am ever so grateful for, and now understanding how love will drive you to do stupid things, I feel I can understand why he moved out of the country, and the possibility that he committed suicide. I wish I could have the truth myself, as he was my favorite step father, but some things just fade away without ever knowing, like the truth.
