Today Wednesday the 20th of October a letter that I received months ago from NOAA was published in La Reforma. The letter was officially translated into Spanish and was signed by tourist organizations all over Baja Sur, Sinaloa and Sonora. The letter demonstrates that Ramon Corral, the head of Conapesca the Mexican Fisheries department,  has yet to reply and thus has refused to provide information to the Department of Commerce and NOAA in regards to what Mexican law states about Dorado.

Signed Dorado letter 4-20-10 : Letter in English

Publicación Periodico Reforma Oct. 20,2010 : Translated letter as it appeared in La Reforma today.

This letter proves that the department of Conapesca has refused to work with the Americans. The political fallout of the publication will be interesting. It is quite possible that nothing will happen to Ramon Corral over this. But what is likely to happen and what we hope for is that this letter will solidify those who are fighting the two resolutions in front of Mexican Congress.  This letter will be used to show the President of Mexico that there is much corruption at the department of fisheries. This letter will also be used by Mexcian congressman and lobby´s to defeat any law change governing Dorado. If this in fact is the case and Mexican law is not changed then we will be able by next summer to pressure the United states into no longer allowing the 6,000 tonnes of dorado that cross the border each year to continue.
