Last Saturday as I was off to work on a boat project in the bay I noticed the large thunder heads building off to the east of San Carlos. It was clear we were going to get some weather. As I finished off the boat I started paddling back to the dock. at that point it was still sunny at the Marina San Carlos but the dark ominous clouds  were moving our way fast. By the time I got to the fountain on the main street a full on Chubasco was hitting San Carlos. It rained hard here and it rained fast. Then it stopped for a while and then it rained real hard again for about an hour and then by sunset it was mostly over.

Those in Guaymas were not so lucky. In what appears to be about a three hour time frame Guaymas and areas around it were devastated. I have not seen any official report of the total amount of rain that fell in those three hours but it would seem that it was on a level consistent with Huricane Jimena. As many will recall it pretty much rained in San Carlos and Guaymas for 24 hours straight during Jimena. Imagine all that water in just three hours.

This link at debate.com has several videos and pictures of the devastation.
