Yesterday the IronRush obstacle course event was held over at the Paradiso hotel. According to the IronRush facebook page there were 236 competitors. Overall the event was successful but there many glitches along the way. The event started late due to a problem with electricity at the finish line and it appears the wind might have been a factor in how poorly marked the course was. Many participants had a difficult time knowing there the turns were on the course and when the course route was explained it was only in Spanish, yet there were plenty of Americans competing and certainly it would have behooved the organizers to have someone who was bilingual to talk about the route. One last thing to mention is that there was absolutely no map of the course before the event. It certainly would not have cost much money to produce a decent map of the course and with 236 competitors at between 450 and 500 pesos a pop in ticket sales alone to participants the competition generated well over 100,000 pesos not counting the sponsors. Sponsorship for the event was between 5,000 and 10,000 pesos so the organizers generated plenty of cash. The start of the event was essentially flawed as well since there was a huge bottle neck created as participants had to run through a small inflated arch and then across the bridge at the entrance to the laguna.

All in all it was a fun event and hopefully they will run it again next year and improve on their organizational skills and get more participants! Then I would have no excuse what so ever to get my ass in shape and compete!
