Guaymas cuts down supposedly illegal Signs in San Carlos

Last Week somebody in Guaymas city hall decided that many signs all over town were illegal. So what they did was they came here in the dead of night and simply cut down the signs. Jax Snax lost a sign. Las Bandoleras as well at the very large Tattoo Shop sign.

El Vigia in Guaymas reported that the signs were cut down to make space on the side walk. We find that rather funny since there is no side walk on the south or north sides of the main street in San Carlos. Approximately 40 signs were removed from businesses all over town.

We are going to do an extensive report on this in the coming week and see if we can not get to the bottom of it. What is amazing is that the signs they cut down were really not terribly offensive so if the goal was to beautify the main boulevard then Guaymas has failed miserably. So in the coming week Ines is gonna track down what was the rational for the midnight raids.

The one thing that is very disturbing in all of this is the insanely large Tecate sign that went up at the Oxxo over by Santa Fe. This sign is a complete eye sore and was it really needed at that intersection. This is just another great example of how San Carlos is in desperate need to break away from Guaymas and form it’s own township or in Spanish municipio.

So is this Tecate beer sign just a little over the top or what?

  1. Speaking of signs, how about the big rusty eyesore in the lot next to Froggys? Too bad they didn’t knock it down on their rampage to remove ugliness from San Carlos.

  2. I think that to beautiful our town…… ALL big signs should be removed!!
    Especially the big TECATE sign.
    And the OXXO signs.
That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it 🙂
