Soon I will be making a few waves in San Carlos with a new video on bull shit and corruption and how certain people in this town use the Judicial system to harass competitors or anyone in genteral they disagree with. A Look Back at Hurricane Jimena

Two years ago this month as many or you will recall we were devastated by Hurricane Jimena as it slowly moved over San Carlos and drenched us to the bone. So here is a quick look back at the Storm.

I know a lot of people were involved in the relief effort so please anyone who would like to post a comment below please feel free to do so!!! Ines and I and the kids are off to Mazatlan for the last public forum regarding the dorado fishery so we will be updating you all on that when we come back!!

Sperm Whale Marine Turtle Gil Net Rescue A Success!!

This is just a very quick update to let people know what happened yesterday and to thank all of those who participated in this operation.

First and Foremost I would like to thank John Layman for lending us his 32 ft. Sport Fisher Amistad. Without which this operation would have been up the creek! Picture at left are Bud Smith, Chip White, John Layman and our two little helpers Andre and J.D. I would also like to thank Brian on Margarita 3 for going out and looking and a special thanks goes out to, Rich, Jeremy Jeff and Bill Hilliker who were the boys on the Sport fishing boat La Vida Rica who finally spotted the whale and called us up. We had actually given up for the day and were about 7 miles from San Carlos when we got the call that the whale had been found 27 miles out so we turned around and hauled ass back out there. The Hilliker Family on La Vida Rica stayed with the whales and turtles until we arrived which was crucial and if it had not been for a good box cutter they had on board it would have taken us a lot longer than it did to free the Calf. I will post a video as soon as I can but in the mean time here are some pictures.

Also special thanks go out to Harry and Nancy Lehrs on ”The Greek” who originally reported the Whale entanglement, and to Jack and Sue on Border Bandit who reported the incident to me and who were also out there looking as well and working as a relay, for we might actually have missed the call in from La Vida Rica if it were not for Jack!!! This was truly a team effort and without all the help I would have never got the images, which I might say are very dramatic and may very well end up on National T.V. here in Mexico. It is not every day that you have everything fall into place and are able to capture images such as these which happens all to often here. I can’t wait to write the script for this one, it is really a interesting story to tell.

I am sorry I don’t at the moment have a better picture of the guys from Vida Rica. They had a good underwater camera as well and I hopefully will hook up with them and get all their names so we can give them the credit that they deserve!!!

Vida Rica not only saved our Ass with a box cutter they also had cold beer left in the cooler, which was exactly what the doctor ordered!!

Turtle & baby sperm Whale entangled in gil net

Here you get an idea of how extremely entangled this Calf was. Its entire tail is covered in a drift net almost as if someone had gift wrapped it. This was the toughest part of the net to remove. As you look off to the right you see that the net stretches down and leads off to the Adult female who was still very strong and towing the huge mass of gill net baby and marine turtles with it.

This was the mass of net leading from the Calf to the Adult Female, to get this shot I actually put the net between my legs so I could hold the camera steady and shoot the image. It was like riding a bucking bronco. For this reason we choose to release the Adult first and unfortunately we were not able to completely remove the net from her tail but I am quite sure she will be able to survive. She will however have have to trail a small bit of net behind her. As much as I wanted to it would have been almost totally impossible and extremely dangerous to completely remove the small buoys that were attached to her.

San Carlos 12 Hour Endurance Bike Race

The 7th Annual Endurance Moutain Bike Race was held in San Carlos last Memorial day weekend. I have to admit this was the first time I ever checked out the event and it was really a lot of fun to shoot. The Race Starts at 5 p.m. and runs till 5 a.m. so the majority of the race is run in total darkness. This year the sponsors were able to get a Professional to participate in the event. Tinker Juarez, a two time world champion bike racer was looking pretty good on the course and pretty much crushed everyone in the competition not bad considering he just turned 50 years old. Chad Willis Gabriel Conde World Energy Research Scam

Well this video came about after I realized how many people have been scammed by a guy who passed through San Carlos in the summer and fall of 2007. He rolled into town in a Black Escalade Suv which actually turned out to be owned by his ex wife who he abandoned along with his daughter to continue his psychopathic crime wave throughout Mexico and Central America with a woman named Blanca Elizabeth Salvatierra Ruiz. We are quite sure Chad is a nut case since Blanca told us many things about him during their brief stay in San Carlos. Back then we suspect Blanca had no idea of the life she was in for. Now I would have to conclude she is an accessory to the crime spree. My knowledge of Chad Willis comes from my direct dealings with him while he was here and speaking with several people, including his brother on line and via phone conversations after he skipped town with 30 thousand dollars of a local Realtors hard earned money. Apparently Chad is good at forging signatures on checks. After he left town I started a thread on the san carlos Forum about him and posted the picture on this post of Chad and Blanca. The thread actually helped chase Chad out of Mexico since many people identified him through the information I posted. That is until a lawyer working for Chad who goes by the name of Arron Kelly out of Scottsdale Arizona intimidated the owner of the forum to the point of the owner taking the post down. The reason Chad hired the lawyer was because a man named Mark Van Bohem found out that the Man he knew by the name of Gabriel Conde was in fact Chad Willis. Van Bohem has invested his lifes saving in a bogus company called World Energy Research. When it became obvious that the company had scammed him he started to investigate. World Energy Resources has offices listed in New Zealand, London and Guatemala. Chad actually lives in Guatemala at the moment but I suspect he is on his way out soon and looking for a new identity, maybe some Liposuction as well as a little plastic surgery. Chad old buddy I am waiting for your lawyers to call me and start harassing me over this video. By the way I forgot to mention Chad is wanted for violation of his parole. Since he was convicted of Mortgage Fraud in Michigan he violated parole by coming to Mexico. Authorities in Michigan say they do not have the resourses to pick him up in Guatemala.

Driving to Chihuahua from San Carlos to Basaseachi National Park

We decided to leave the Craziness of San Carlos during Semana Santa behind us this year and go to the tranquility of the Sierras. It is an 8 hour drive to the National Park at Basaseachi , Chihuahua and I can not recommend enough how nice the national park is up there. The camp grounds were free inside the park, the bathrooms were immaculate and the people extremely friendly.

So anyone who wants to get away from the crowds I suggest a trip to Las Sierras de Chihuahua!!! Enjoy the video!!!!

Here are some cool images of a fog bank rolling into San Carlos, I also threw in a few images of some low lying clouds boiling over the Teta Kawi and a full moon rise for good measure. The music is Beethoven’s 5th and Mambo no. 5 directed by Akira Minagawa and Japanese philharmonic.
